a new business is born
/Dear friends,
Over the past few months many of you have asked me what my next business step would be. Since 1998 I have worked as a musician for 2 years, 7 years in IT, 4 years as head of an energy company, followed by 5 years building the opposite: the “let’s all become independent of energy companies-company”. I look back at eighteen consecutive years of fantastic adventures, and yet I have the feeling I am just getting started.
Right after leaving BAS I wasn't sure how to move on. I remembered that I always asked candidates during their job interview what they would do if all the work in the world were voluntary work, and now I realized that my own answer to that question was not as clear as I thought. My mission is to help people live better lives, but *how* was the big question. I decided to take a little bit of time to figure out what I could do best in regards of being of service.
Of course I am involved in the BAS Foundation, through which I aim to help people with no energy-access by developing solutions for communities so that they start with energy-independence right off the bat. However, BAS Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, and therefore it exists by the grace of other people’s profit. This is why I decided that I could best be of service by simultaneously building a new profitable vehicle for positive impact.
The easiest would be to start a new company around another crazy concept, but that would limit me to working out a single idea, while my head kept spinning around tons of new ones. A company is a means to an end, and not an end in itself. My wish is to serve the end.
Vehicle for positive impact
So why not generate ideas, concepts, models, designs for other entrepreneurs and leaders? I have learned that every organization, without exception, strives for positive impact. Organizations aim to positively influence one or more of the following categories of stakeholders: shareholders, customers, employees, suppliers, society, and the environment. I believe that every organization and organism has the DNA and ability to serve a purpose higher than itself, to go beyond its own boundaries and, ultimately, positively influence each and every stakeholder. This would ensure a lasting positive impact, allowing for truly sustainable value creation.
It is with great pride that after a few months of preparation, soul-searching, travels, many inspiring meetings, dealing with my insecurities and lots of help and assurance from very dear friends, I announce the launch of my new vehicle for positive impact: Kamangir | Beyond Boundaries.
What does Kamangir | Beyond Boundaries do?

Kamangir? What's with the name?
Some millennia ago, a legendary bowman named Arash Kamangir (Kamangir means archer in Persian) was sent by the Shah to fire an arrow from the top of a mountain to redefine the border of the Persian empire. At dawn he aimed, fired, and sacrificed himself to serve his country. The arrow traveled a thousand leagues before defining the new border, and that event marked the start of a glorious era in Persian history. Until today many children are named after this illustrious bowman. Yes, that includes me.
I hope you will enjoy your visit to this website. It's the first website I have developed in sixteen years, and that alone was a wonderful process. All the pictures you see, except for one (and I wonder if you can find it), were made with my phone during my travels in three continents. Your comments and inquiries are most highly appreciated.
I very much look forward to help you maximize your positive impact and create sustainable value together!
